As someone who’s been in and out of the rooms for 15 years, this book totally reinforces my newfound beliefs on the power and importance of carrying the message. In the past I’ve thought of sponsorship as “being someone’s boss”. That doesn’t work, for me or the newcomer. Gary concisely writes about what service should look like and also includes some historical context, which I loved. Highly recommend this book for anyone working a 12-step program!

5.0 out of 5 stars Revelation for the parents of the addicted!!!

I am quite new to the devastation drug addiction brings to a family. In a million years I never thought it could happen in our home. When it happened I felt the need to read all I can about the subject. How do we learn to not be enablers? When do I stop feeling guilty? Walk the Talk with Step 12 has helped me understand that drugs and alcohol take over a person and no matter what a parent does... it is up to the addict to do the work needed for recovery. Most important I learned that as a parent I have allowed myself to be emotionally manipulated by addictive behaviors. This book is certainly an eye opener for the addict and all the people associated with them. Thank you to the author for sharing his life story!!!

Everyone in recovery should read this book. Gary K has both a crazy story that most of us are glad we don't have it like his and his enthusiasm for recovery is infectious and we all ought to get on the bandwagon and know that the path to recover is gratitude and service. Let's remember that our primary purpose is to stay sober and help others. I have bought several copies to give away.
